Terms of service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Unlokid governing your access to and use of the Unlokid app, the parent dashboard, and our website (together, the “Service”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Eligibility and accounts
The Service is intended for parents and legal guardians who are adults (typically 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live) setting it up for a child in their care. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the authority to manage the child’s device and data.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and parent PIN confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. Please give us accurate account information and keep it up to date, and let us know promptly if you suspect any unauthorised use.
What Unlokid is — and is not
Unlokid is a parental-control and learning tool. It lets a parent lock chosen apps on a supported Android device and require a child to pass short, curriculum-aligned quizzes to earn screen time, with a dashboard to follow progress. The Service is a support tool for parents; it is not a substitute for parental supervision, professional teaching, or medical, psychological, or other professional advice.
Screen-time and app-locking features depend on Android capabilities and correct device configuration. No parental-control tool is perfect: a determined or technically skilled child may find ways around restrictions, and device or OS updates can affect how features work. You remain responsible for supervising your child’s device use.
Device permissions and protection
To function, Unlokid requires certain Android permissions on the child device, such as accessibility service, device administration, and overlay permissions. These are used only to enforce the app-locking and anti-tamper features you enable, and you can remove them (and uninstall the app) through the parent-controlled flow described in the app. Disabling these permissions will stop the protective features from working.
Educational content
Quizzes are generated from curriculum data and, in part, by automated and AI systems, and are refreshed frequently so they are rarely identical twice. While we work hard on quality — including curriculum grounding, grading rubrics, and review tools — automatically generated content can occasionally contain mistakes or imperfect grading. You can report any question from the dashboard and it will be removed from rotation. Unlokid does not guarantee any particular educational outcome, grade, or exam result.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you agree not to: use it for anyone you are not legally responsible for; attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours; interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security; reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell it except as permitted by law; upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content; or use it to harass or harm others. We may suspend or terminate access for abuse, fraud, security risks, or violations of these Terms.
Plans, trials, billing, and cancellation
Unlokid is currently offered free during its beta. When paid plans or trials are available, their price, billing period, and what they include will be described in the app before you subscribe, and billing will be handled by our payment provider. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled.
You can manage or cancel a subscription through the Billing section of the parent dashboard, where available, or through the app store you purchased it from. Cancelling stops future renewals; except where required by law, payments already made are generally non-refundable. Any free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel beforehand.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, mascot, text, and generated content, is owned by Unlokid or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your family in accordance with these Terms. You keep ownership of the custom material you upload, and you grant us the limited rights needed to process it in order to provide the Service to you.
Availability, beta, and changes
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts the Service. Because Unlokid is in beta, some features may be experimental, change, or be discontinued, and we may limit the number of accounts. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully effective at restricting a child’s device.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unlokid will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you, in which case our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the parent dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we will handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Governing law and changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where Unlokid is established, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
